Hyderabad, 21st March 2025: The Department of Neurology at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has inaugurated an advanced Pediatric Neurology and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in Millennium Block, 1st Floor, at 1 PM today. This specialized unit, covering 4000 sq. ft., includes an ICU, High Dependency Unit (HDU), Advanced Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Polysomnography, and a Child Development Clinic.
The state-of-the-art infrastructure for this unit has been generously donated by Rotary Club, Moinabad, and Premier Energies Limited, along with high-end medical equipment, including a Stereo EEG machine and advanced monitoring systems.

This Advanced Pediatric and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit aims to provide specialized care for children suffering from epilepsy and other pediatric neurological disorders. In particular, it will cater to patients with refractory epilepsy requiring epilepsy surgery, which typically costs between ₹10 to ₹15 lakhs in private hospitals. However, under government schemes such as Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister Relief Fund, this specialized care will be made available at minimal cost to patients.
