
Hyderabad, March 2nd, 2025: ln a significant step towards road safety, Wipro Junction in Gachibowli has been declared an accident-free junction as part of a road safety initiative led by the Sarvejana Foundation. The event featured an innovative awareness campaign where motorists were sensitized in the disguise of Yamadharma Raju, symbolizing the consequences of reckless driving.
Renowned badminton player P.V. Sindhu launched the Stop Road Accident App at the Phoenix Lobby Conference Hall, Wipro Circle, Gachibowli. Addressing the gathering, Sindhu emphasized the importance of traffic rule compliance and took a pledge along with the attendees to promote road safety. She expressed her satisfaction in supporting this initiative, noting that she had often witnessed accidents at this junction and was pleased to see it transformed into a safer space.
Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy, Chairperson of Sarvejana Foundation and MD of KIMS -Sunshine Hospitals highlighted the foundation’s dedication to public welfare. He recalled that Sarvejana Trust was established in 2021 and is being driven by three key objectives: free knee replacement surgeries for the underprivileged, training young surgeons in joint replacement, and accident prevention.
As part of this road safety project, the Sarvejana Foundation has implemented various safety enhancements, including solar cat eyes, zebra crossing lines, signature boards, and delineators, to improve visibility and prevent accidents. The initiative aims to convert unprotected junctions into accident-free zones, with Wipro Junction in Gachibowli serving as the pilot project.
Nationwide Awareness and Incentive Program
• 108 free knee and hip joint replacement surgeries have been conducted.
• 46 health camps were organized, providing medical services to 3,800 people.
• 3,020 individuals were trained as first responders in accident scenarios.
• 1,175 schools received road safety awareness programs.
• 53 workshops were conducted for police and DRF teams.
• 4 villages were adopted for specialized health awareness programs.
• A total of 3,80,250 students were educated through safety workshops
"Awareness to Fathers through Daughters" Initiative
In a unique campaign, P.V. Sindhu administered an oath to her father to follow road safety rules, launching the innovative “Awareness to Fathers through Daughters” initiative. This program aims to educate parents on traffic safety through their children and will soon be implemented across all schools nationwide to foster responsible driving habits among parents and guardians.
With 26 crore two-wheelers registered in India and an equal number of school-going children, this initiative has the potential to drive a cultural shift in road safety awareness.
